Talmadge "Bubba" Miles

Evans, GA – Entered into rest on Monday, September 21, 2026, Mr. Talmadge Lamar Miles (Bubba), 71, loving husband of 54 years to the love of his life, Joyce Hattaway Miles.

Talmadge is the son of the late Talmadge and Annette Miles. He was a member of Risen Church in Grovetown, GA. Bubba had worked most of his life, beginning at the Dairy Queen when he was 11. He went on to be a store manager. After he and Joyce married, he went to work as a breadman for Colonial Bakery. He worked himself all the way up to Plant President of the Augusta bakery. Then he went to work as Regional Sales Manager for Campbell Taggart, the corporation that owned the bakeries in Dallas, TX. When they were acquired by Anheuser-Busch, he became a Regional Vice-President until he retired in 1999. There was lots of moving – including Columbia SC, Dallas TX, Montgomery AL, St. Louis MO, and Conyers GA. When they came home to Augusta, retirement didn’t suit him well, so his brother, Phillip, presented a new adventure. He bought 7 Meineke Car Care Centers in Augusta, Columbia and Charleston. Now, he knew absolutely nothing about working on cars – his brothers, nephews and son-in-law did all of that! He finally retired for good in 2010.

Before dementia began taking so much from him, he was a workaholic who loved Harley-Davidsons, traveling, dancing, and was a big fan of James Brown. He absolutely loved entertaining and enjoyed cooking for all of his friends and family. As the old saying goes, he would give you the shirt off of his back. He never met a stranger in his life, and he usually called everyone Honey, Baby, Sugar or Darlin’. But most of all, he loved his family.

Family members, in addition to his wife, include his daughter: Rene’ Alexander (James); grandchildren: Zachary Rester, Peyton Serrano (Seth), and Lilly Rester; greatgrandchildren: Leona, Nova, Freya and SJ Serrano; brothers: Phillip Miles (Judy) and Nathan Miles; sisters: Janet Ladun (Mike), Wanda Akridge (the late Bobby), and Angela Kitchens (Ronnie); scores of nieces, nephews, in-laws, cousins and dear friends that he considered family. He absolutely loved everyone!

The memorial service will be held Friday, September 25, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. Marvin Patrick officiating.
