Judy Lane Cox Stencel

Augusta, GA – Entered into rest on Monday, August 3, 2026, Judy Lane Cox Stencel, 83, a loving Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother affectionately known as “Nana J” by her grandchildren.

A native of Augusta, GA. Mrs. Stencel married and lived briefly in Minnesota and returned to Georgia in the late 60’s to raise her young family. She was a homemaker, baker and perfect conversationalist. Always loving, compassionate, understanding and kind-hearted to her family and friends.

As her children grew older, she began her career at University Hospital and retired in 2010. After retiring she spent most of her time caring for her grandchildren and completing puzzles, Sudoku and crossword. The Hallmark channel was always on in her home.

Family members include her sons: Scott Stencel (Shiela), Troy Stencel (Suzanne), Mark Stencel (Katy); daughter: Sheila Stencel; grandchildren: Haley Caines (Dustin), Dr. Chandler Stencel, Hayden Stencel (Tarah), Madison Hughes (Justin), Marin Stencel, Anna Baumgartner (Wilson), Logan Stencel, Bryce Stencel, Barrett Stencel; 8 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Stencel is preceded in death by her parents: Leonard L. Cox and Muriel Bailey Cox; and grandson: Dalton Christopher Best.

The family will have a private service at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
