Joyce "Joy" Morton

Joyce “Joy” Morton, lovingly known as “Aunt Joy” to her family and “Grauntie” to her great-nieces, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2026, just one month after celebrating her 86th birthday. She was born on June 10, 1940, and spent her life sharing kindness, laughter, and generosity with everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Joy embraced life with enthusiasm and curiosity. She found joy on the tennis court, paddling through peaceful waters in her kayak, and creating memorable meals in the kitchen for family and friends. A lifelong learner and dedicated volunteer, she served as a museum docent, where she delighted in sharing history and inspiring others through education.

Retirement was one of Joy’s greatest adventures. She cherished her retirement community, where she built lasting friendships and immersed herself in countless activities. Whether she was playing bridge, editing the community newspaper, organizing gatherings, hosting festive parties, or entertaining audiences in talent shows, Joy’s warmth, creativity, and infectious spirit made every event brighter.

More than any accomplishment, Joy will be remembered for the way she made people feel. She welcomed others with an open heart, a warm smile, and genuine interest in their lives. Her home was often filled with laughter, good food, and meaningful conversation, and she had a remarkable gift for bringing people together.

Joy is survived by her loving siblings, Jeff Morton, Priscilla Zechender, Dorothea Corbin, and Kathryn Bullard, along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever treasure the love, wisdom, and joyful spirit she shared so freely.

Though our hearts are heavy with her passing, we take comfort in the countless memories she leaves behind. Her legacy is one of generosity, friendship, laughter, and love—a life beautifully lived and deeply cherished. She will be profoundly missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of calling her family or friend.
