Gunter “Jimmy” Leboff, age 86, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2026, in Evans, Georgia. He was born on August 14, 1939, in Schweinfurt, Germany.

Jimmy shared 57 wonderful years of marriage with the love of his life and soulmate, Nell D. Leboff, affectionately known by him simply as his “Doll.” Their unwavering love and devotion to one another was the foundation of their family and an inspiration to all who knew them.

Though born in Germany, Jimmy was an American through and through. He proudly served his adopted country for 11 years in the United States Army as a paratrooper with the legendary 82nd Airborne Division. After completing more than 450 jumps from perfectly good airplanes, his service left him with lifelong physical challenges that he carried with quiet strength and dignity. As a proud disabled veteran, Jimmy rarely went anywhere without his cherished 82nd Airborne cap. He had an uncanny ability to recognize fellow veterans and active-duty service members and never missed an opportunity to thank them for their service, believing deeply in honoring those who served alongside him.

Following his military career, Jimmy dedicated 39 years to Coca-Cola before retiring. He was also honored to serve as an Honorary Deputy with the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, another reflection of his lifelong commitment to serving others and his community.

Above all else, Jimmy was a family man. His greatest joy was caring for those he loved. No matter how much pain his body endured, he never let it stand in the way of helping his family. If someone he loved needed him, he was there—without hesitation, without complaint, and without counting the cost. His generosity, selflessness, unwavering loyalty, and quiet strength defined the man he was.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Frieda Fuchs Leboff, and his brother, Johnny Leboff, who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving his country during the Vietnam War.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Nell D. Leboff; his sons, Johnny Leboff and Toby (his dog); his daughter-in-law, Shannon Russo-Leboff, his step-grandchildren, Tony and Nikki McGee, Amber and Joshua Oertle, and Magen and Chris Walters; and his treasured great-grandchildren, Raylan Oertle, Adeline Walters, Lillian Walters, and Juliet Walters. His legacy of love, sacrifice, and unwavering devotion will live on through each of them.

A visitation will be held on Monday, July 27, 2026, beginning at 1:00 p.m. at Bible Fellowship Church, 3701 River Watch Parkway, Martinez, GA 30907. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. Interment will take place immediately following the funeral service at Bellevue Memorial Gardens, 4501 Wrightsboro Road, Grovetown, GA 30803.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to Bible Fellowship Church, in honor of Jimmy’s life and faith.

Jimmy’s life was marked by courage, sacrifice, unwavering patriotism, and unconditional love. He served his country with honor, his community with humility, and his family with every ounce of his heart. Though he will be deeply missed, the example he set and the love he gave will remain with all who were blessed to know him.
