John Gibson Nalley

John Gibson Nalley, age 69, of Gainesville, Georgia, passed away Thursday, July 30, 2026.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, August 6, 2026, at Grace Episcopal Church. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.

John Gibson Nalley Sr. was born on April 3rd, 1957, in Gainesville, GA, son of the late Logan and Eleanor (Gibson) Nalley. He was also preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Buddy Wallis.

John graduated from Gainesville High School and then the University of Georgia’s Grady School of Journalism. Gainesville remained home his entire life, and he cherished all his friends there. Gainesville is where he met his wife and best friend, Elaine, raised his children, and eventually retired; it will always be home.

John spent most of his career at Georgia Crown Distributing out of McDonough, GA, where he made a lasting mark on the industry and made lifelong friends along the way. In retirement, he enjoyed sitting on his back porch with Elaine, going out on the lake with their friends, and watching Georgia Football in the fall with his sons.

He is survived by his wife, Elaine Nalley; his sons and daughters-in-law, John Nalley Jr. and Katy Taylor Nalley, and George Nalley and Chelsea Marie Waddell Nalley. He loved all three of his granddaughters, Ruby Nalley, Marion Nalley, and Piper Nalley. They were the joy of his life, and he called them his legacy. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Dr. Logan “Buzzy” Nalley Jr. and Dale, and sister, Patty Nalley Wallis.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to Grace Episcopal Church, 422 Brenau Avenue NE, Gainesville, Georgia 30501.
