JoDee Dunlap Stratton

Lincolnton, GA – On July 28, 2026, JoDee Dunlap Stratton, beloved wife, mother, sister, cousin, niece, and daughter was blessed to meet her beloved Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ after a short battle against the horrible disease of pancreatic cancer. She had the added blessing of being surrounded by her sons Thomas (Tommy) Pinkney Lovelace III, Johnston (Jack) Gray Lovelace, and her sister Corbin Streett. She was calmed during the night in her own bed by her husband of 35 years, Jon Jay Stratton, holding her hand, and passed peacefully in the morning. She will be missed by all that knew her and for those who didn't know her, they've missed a blessing. Per her former pastor Aaron Couch, "The world is less of a place today."

JoDee was born and raised in Augusta, GA. After graduating from Westside High School, she attended Augusta College. She worked locally at Richmond Linen Service, a local bank now a part of Bank of America, and finally Savannah River Site in positions ranging from Administrative Assistant to Travel Accounting, and Manuscript Editor.

In 2001, she followed her husband to the tri-city area of Washington state and then again to Castle Rock, CO in 2004. In Colorado she volunteered as the food mom with the Douglas County Marching Band in which her son participated, making many friends - several of which she hosted during her illness. She participated in Community Bible Study for several years where she made more deep friends, several of who traveled to her home recently. Once she was an empty-nester, she worked in retail for both Liz Claiborne and Wilsons Leather as well as volunteering with Alternatives Pregnancy Center where she aided women and men through unplanned pregnancies. She was an active member in her church choir at Southeast Christian Church of Parker, CO where she gained many more friends, who also traveled to see her recently. JoDee had an easy way about her, making deep friendships seem easily attained, while keeping and nurturing life-long friendships made early in her life.

In addition to her work and volunteer activities JoDee was able to enjoy life to the fullest - attending concerts, traveling the west where she found she should’ve been a cowgirl, relaxing in Hawaii, and attending Denver Broncos games with Jon as season ticket holders for over a decade before retirement brought them back to the CSRA and their children and grandchildren. JoDee found inspiration from Christian worship music and has only listened to that genre for the last 20 years.

JoDee also had many talents. She had a great sense of humor, or at least she laughed at all her husband’s and father in law’s jokes regardless of how much corn came with them. Those fortunate enough to have tasted her cooking understand that talent, and those who have seen the flower arrangements in her home experienced the beauty she could create, and lastly those who remember many of Tommy and Jack’s Halloween costumes witnessed her elaborate sewing skills. Perhaps her greatest talent was her love for and desire to better know her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ through reading and studying the Bible. JoDee’s greatest desire was for others to know and have a relationship with Jesus.

JoDee is survived by her husband, Jon Jay Stratton, her sons Thomas “Tommy” Pinkney Lovelace III (his wife Melanie Alyssa Lovelace, his daughter Evelyn Gray Lovelace) and Johnston “Jack” Gray Lovelace (his wife Alexa Margaret Lovelace, his son Jackson Gray Lovelace and daughter Madelyn James Lovelace) and her sister Corbin Ruth Guion Streett (and Corbin’s daughter Riley Evans Streett). Also, JoDee is survived by her Uncle Ray Dunlap (wife Trudy and daughter Kristen), Aunt Kitty Nichols, Aunt Kay Cartledge and cousins Gray (son London), Joseph “Joe III” (wife Lika and son Lucas) and Raymond “Little Ray” (wife Kristen). She was preceded in death by her father Thomas Gray Dunlap, her mother Betty Evans Streett, her sister Deborah “Debbie” Dunlap Tanner, her Uncle Joe Cartledge, paternal grandparents Johnston “Jack” Gray and Sarah “Sally” Wiard Dunlap, and maternal grandparents William “Bill” Thomas and Ruth Veitch Evans.

Those who know JoDee also know her love of her pet family members. Surviving her are Addison and Hamilton Bone the 2nd. Her dogs that have preceded her are My Deputy (MD), Sparky, Duke, (MD) JR, Grits, Hamilton Bone and her childhood friend Lou.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Directors with Pastor Aaron Couch officiating. Interment will follow in Westover Memorial Park.
