Joanne Mae Young Wilkie

Joanne is once again with the love of her life, the late Arthur R. "Sandy" Wilkie.

She was the daughter of the late Creighton A. Young and Helen Coombs Young, and was born December 10, 1937 in Phila. PA. She was also preceded in death by her grandparents, 'Nana', M. Edith Coombs, D.C. Coombs, and her mentor-godmother, Marjorie E. Clarke, and her first husband, A.W. McLarnon, father of their four wonderful sons.

She is survived by her sons, Jeffrey S. McLarnon, Steven D. McLarnon, Roger D. McLarnon, Brian D. McLarnon, their wives and seven grandsons.

Joanne graduated Germantown High School, attended Moore College of Art, danced with the Phila. Dance Theater, all in Phila. She was a professional model and commercial TV actress in NY, PA and NJ.

Arriving in Wilmington, NC in 1996, she became a Hospice caregiver/volunteer, a docent at the Bellamy Mansion, believing a life without service is not a complete one. She was also an ambassador at ILM Airport, a volunteer for CERT, and active in her church, St. John's Episcopal. She was an avid reader, loved to play bridge, and ride horses. She and Sandy especially enjoyed sailing and travelling, both in US and Caribbean.

Sandy and Joanne decided to have their ashes placed in the Memorial Garden at St. John's Episcopal Church, Wilmington, NC., with a committal service.

Joanne wishes it be known that her legacy is her four sons. Family and friends can remember Joanne and Sandy's special relationship with a toast on their mutual birthday and anniversary, December 10.
