Jessie Alton Clements

A beloved father, brother, grandfather, and friend, peacefully departed this world on November 5, 2026, at the age of 93. Born on April 11, 1933, in McRae, Georgia, Jessie was the cherished son of Charlie and Lilly Mae Roberson Clements. He had eight brothers and two sisters.

Jessie's life was a testament to dedication, love, and service. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army Signal Corps for six years, attaining the rank of Corporal. His time in the military instilled in him a deep sense of discipline and camaraderie, qualities that he carried with him throughout his life.

After his service, Jessie found his calling on the open road, driving trucks for Overnite Transportation until his well-earned retirement. His career allowed him to explore the country and meet countless people, a perfect fit for a man who never met a stranger. Jessie had an extraordinary gift for conversation, always eager to share a story or lend an ear to those in need.

For 60 years, Jessie was devoted to his wife, Fannie Mae James Clements. Together, they built a loving home and raised two children, Lamar Clements and Kathy Rumple creating a legacy of love and family. Though Mae passed away in 2017, Jessie's love for her remained unwavering.

A man deeply connected to the earth, Jessie found joy in the simple pleasures of life, particularly in tending to his farm and vegetable garden. He cherished the time spent outdoors, nurturing the land and reveling in the beauty of nature.

Jessie was also a proud member of Blythe Baptist Church, where he found spiritual fulfillment and a community of faith that supported him throughout his life.

He is survived by his sister, Dorothy Hulett, son Lamar (wife Celeste), daughter Kathy (husband Dwight), five grandchildren; Andrea Osborne, Jeremy Clements, Kaitlin Clements, Jessica Rumple, and Meggan Rumple, four great grandchildren; Luke Osborne, Grayson Clements, Connor Clements and Isabelle Rumple who brought immeasurable joy to his life. He also had numerous nieces and nephews and greats to round out the list. Jessie's enduring love and wisdom will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
