Jeanne D. Ashmore

Jeanne D. Ashmore, 88, of Flatrock, NC entered into rest on Sunday, August 16, 2026. She was the loving wife of the late Jerry T. Ashmore, Sr.

Jeanne was a native of Augusta, GA and the daughter of the late James and Catherine Dicks. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who was known as “Moma Jeanne” by her family.

For the last 25 years of her life, Moma Jeanne called the mountains of western North Carolina her home. Here she spent her time in fellowship and community with her beloved family, as well as the wonderful people at Camp Greystone. She loved going for long walks at the Carl Sandburg home, and singing Happy Birthday at the top of her lungs for her eleven grandchildren whom she loved so dearly.

Moma Jeanne had a big voice, and an even bigger heart. Many who knew her described her as a “force of nature.” She left behind a lasting impression on each and every one of the people fortunate enough to have called her mother, grandmother, or friend.

Family members include her son: Jerry T. Ashmore, Jr. and wife Christia; two daughters: Catherine A. Pederson and husband Steen, and Lisa A. Maybin and her late husband Danny; grandchildren: Jerry T. Ashmore III (Rebecca), Alicia Ashmore, Julianna-Claire Duncan (Charles), Bryson Pierce Ashmore, Evan Ashmore, Victoria Ashmore, Christian Pederson, Cecilia Warrington (Whitaker), Paul Maybin (Allie), Luke Maybin (Anna), and Elise Maybin; and great grandchildren: Thomas, Smith, Rebecca Jo, and Ema Ashmore, Riley and Orrin Duncan, and Henry Warrington.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ashmore was preceded in death by her brother, James M. “Jimmy” Dicks, Jr.

The family will receive friends on Friday, August 21, 2026 from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. at Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Directors on Davis Rd. A private interment will take place in Westover Memorial Park on Saturday.
