Augusta, GA – Entered into rest on Friday, October 23, 2026, Fredrick “Cris” Crisler House, 84, loving husband of Jo Ann Hembree House. He was the son of the late Charles Fredrick House and Cassie Crisler House.
A native of Alpharetta, Cris was raised by his mother, Cassie House and aunt Agnes Crisler. He graduated from Milton High school and the University of Georgia prior to graduating from the Medical College of Georgia where he met JoAnn, a nursing student who became his wife of 60 years. Cris completed his residency in internal medicine followed by fellowship in Allergy and Immunology at Walter Reid in Washington DC. Cris proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1971-1975.
He and JoAnn returned to Augusta after his fellowship to open his medical practice and raise their busy family.
In addition to his busy allergy practice, Cris also enjoyed serving in the allergy clinic at the VA Hospital. He retired after 36 years, but remained a physician at heart his entire life.
Cris’ proudest achievement was his family, and he adored his nine grandchildren.
In addition to his wife JoAnn, family members include his children: John Clinton House (spouse Suzi, children Erol, Farah and Zeki) of Chattanooga, TN, Marian House McDonald (spouse Todd children Samuel, Rebecca and Ben) of Fayetteville, GA, Elisabeth House Potter (spouse Jeff) of Austin, TX, and Emily House Atkins (children Phoebe, Hugo, and Arlo) of Austin, TX.
Cris loved animals, particularly the many dogs who became part of the House Family.
He was a member of Lakemont Presbyterian Church, and member of West Augusta Rotary, Richmond County Medical Society, and Richmond County Medical Journal Club.
