Faye Register Pantsari, 79, passed away on Thursday, October 22, 2026. She was the eldest daughter of the late Bill and Winnie Register of Columbia. She was the wife of Eric William Pantsari and had recently celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary. She is survived by her husband and two sons: Matthew William Pantsari (Cindy Pantsari) and Mark Register Pantsari (Laura Pantsari). She is also survived by loving grandchildren Ansley Pantsari, Keller Pantsari and Arden Pantsari. She even loved her children’s pets with a grandmother’s love, and would consider Bertha, Maka, Tuna, Lani, Koa, Maui and Nala as having a place in her den.
She poured her life out for her family, and diligently and purposefully cultivated a home that her children, and many others, would find loving and welcoming. While she spent nearly 20yrs working in the Religion and Drama Departments at Columbia College, loving students and managing the ticket office for various college theater productions, her impact could be measured in the students she loved and the family she always prioritized.
Faye was a modern woman in an increasingly postmodern world. Her world was shaped by a loving and large extended family, and she only grew this tradition. She built weekly schedules around Sunday meals with extended family, including her parents, brother Johnny Register and his family and sister Peggy Tucker and her family. To her, the treasure of extended family relationships trumped all, and she and Eric committed to raise a family in this belief. The laughter, love, and connected nature of these relationships continue to impact generations of this family.
As children moved out of the home, she and Eric became world travelers. She loved the adventure of new places, and welcomed the opportunity to meet complete strangers on boats, buses or planes. She was able to roam the same streets as Jesus, stand atop Great Walls, marvel at the world’s greatest architecture, and see sites of some of its greatest tragedies. No matter the place or people, her smile and joy was infectious, sometimes even exhausting, as she could make friends with anyone through her penchant for conversation. She loved the cuisine (mostly) of other cultures, and loved bringing home relics, pictures and sweets to share with her children and friends.
Her passing leaves a hole in the hearts of her family and friends. But her family grieves not as those without hope! She was a Christian, taught her children about Jesus, and was a member of Virginia Wingard United Methodist Church. Faye loved the church and worked to make sure that all people knew the promise of a perfect and eternal love, and redemption, was available to everyone in, and only through, Jesus. She is reunited with her family and friends, more complete than ever, participating in those same gatherings that previously served as but a foretaste of what she now enjoys.
A Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held at Virginia Wingard United Methodist Church in Columbia, South Carolina on Friday, November 20 at 1100.
