Eva Jaenette Roy

Entered into rest on July 14, 2026, Miss Eva Janette Roy, age 91.

Jan was a native and longtime resident of Knoxville, Tennessee. A lifelong member of the Church of Christ. She earned a bachelor’s degree in engineering from the University of Tennessee and remained a loyal fan and supporter of her Volunteers never missing a game. Watching her Volunteers play and watching the stock market each day always remained a part of her routine. A trailblazer in her field, at a time when few women were, she was employed as an engineer with NASA working during Apollo and Gemini programs. Following a long and distinguished career she retired from Martin Marietta.

She was preceded in death by her parents Louise and Thedford Roy, her brother, Thedford “Ted” Roy, and her sister Eleanor Barney. She is survived by her nieces and nephews Janelle Keener, FL, Deborah Blackwell, GA, Scott Roy, FL, Sammie Roy, TN, Cindy Elam, GA and Stacey Brockman, NC. With no children of her own, she doted on all her nieces, nephews and their families, including welcoming a new baby into the family days before she passed. She served as a strong female role model in her family. Many of her nieces and nephews can remember sharing her special music boxes with them as children.

Her charity support centered around the loves of her life - children and animals. Her life also revolved around her babies, her furry dog babies, and they were always a big part of her life accompanying her everywhere she went.

A private family graveside service will be held at Edgewood Cemetery in Knoxville, Tennessee.
