Dorothy Ann Haigh Cishek

Dorothy A. Cishek, 86, died peacefully in her home on May 31, the 10-year anniversary of her loving husband, Robert’s passing. She is survived by her four daughters, Anne, Ellen, Mary Beth (Bryan), and Dawn (Andy), eight grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, and a sister. Dottie graduated from Ramsey High School, Ramsey, New Jersey, and received her nursing degree from St. Joseph School of Nursing, in Poughkeepsie, New York. Shortly thereafter, she married her high school sweetheart, Bob. They raised five children together and Dottie was so proud of each of them.

Dottie had a long nursing career and then became a hotel owner on Cape Cod, where the grandchildren were able to spend many summers. There, she became an active member of Christ the King Catholic Church where she volunteered at the food pantry, thrift shop, and many other organizations and committees over the years.

Although she moved south a few years ago to be closer to her children and Grandchildren, Cape Cod and Christ the King were always her home. The relationships she built there were lifelong and deep. The most important part of her life was her family. She relished their successes and attended every event she could. Dottie was truly a blessing. She was fiercely independent, passionate, and opinionated. She didn’t have a great singing voice, but she loved to sing. Her passing leaves a hole in our hearts that will only be filled through time with the unending supply of memories that fill our hearts.

The family will hold a Funeral Mass on Friday, June 26, at 11:00 a.m., Christ the King Catholic Church Chapel, 5 Jobs Fishing Rd., Mashpee, MA. Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m., followed by Mass. Dottie will be interred at Mosswood Cemetery, where she will be reunited with Bob.
