Deborah "Debbie" Bowen Poffenbarger

Deborah “Debbie” Bowen Poffenbarger went to be with her Lord September 28, 2026 after an extended illness. She was preceded in passing by her mother, Barbara Pruitt Bowen, and uncle George L. Bowen, Sr.

The funeral service will be Saturday October 3, 2026. Visitation at 1:00 PM, service at 2:00 PM In Thomas Poteet & Son chapel. Rev. Mark Scholten officiating. Interment will follow at Westover Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be, George L. Bowen, Jr, Guy L. Bowen, Harry Nix, Soren McMillan, Chip Fisher, Billy Hatcher, Derick Smits and John Norcus. Honorary Pallbearers are, Noah Poffenbarger, Carter Young and Ben Noffsinger.

Debbie, born June 29, 1962, was a native Augustan. Attended Evans High School and Augusta College.

Most important were her family and her faith. Church and ministry, her ability to lead many to Bible study over the years. She was a founding member of Christ Church Presbyterian (PCA) in Augusta. Her ministry to so many in need reflected the love of Christ in her life. Despite the circumstances she walked with the Lord.

A kind, gentle, selfless spirit endeared her to all those she came in contact with. Her brother confirmed, “wherever Debbie went flowers bloomed”. She made her Debut in the Augusta Symphony Cotillion of June 17, 1982.

She lived an active life with many interests: not the least of which was horses. She and her roan quarter horse, Princess took prizes in area horse shows. Her mother, with her horse, rode many trails with daughter. Debbie was natural at crafts, and painting. She enjoyed fishing and teaching her grandchildren the sport. Every member of her family is pictured with a sizable catch.

The family wishes to express appreciation to all those who have given support, love and caring to Debbie and family during this trying year.

Debbie loved family gatherings, especially Thanksgiving and Christmas with family. Her food contribution was significant.

That she will be sorely missed by those that shared her love puts it mildly. Father, Charles W. Bowen, III, Brother, Rev. Charles Greqory Bowen. Daughters, Ashley Poffenbarger, Brittney Young (Carter), Brooke Noffsinger (Ben). Grand Children, Noah Poffenbarger, Aspen Noffsinger, River Noffsinger.
