Daniel Leonard Suer, 53, of Johnston, South Carolina, fell asleep in the Lord, peacefully on October 18, 2026, with his loving wife at his bedside.
Born in rural New Orleans on June 30, 1973, to Leo Suer, Jr. and Suzanne Autin Suer, Dan enjoyed a wonderful and wild childhood with his sister and four brothers in Southeast Louisiana.
I can tell you he is a simple man. He was an over-the-road trucker who drove flatbeds for 20 years.
He loved loud music, trains—big and small—and being in the outdoors.
He was an Eagle Scout, and a Cajun through and through, cheering for LSU football, win or lose.
But those are mere facts about a man.
Dan had a quiet love, the kind that was content to sit in silence, and proved through action.
Dan is survived by his wife, Marta (née Connolly); his son, Sergeant Daniel L. Suer, Jr, of the Marine Corps; daughter, Alexis Suer; mother, Suzanne Autin Suer; sister Ginette Barcomb (Paul), and brothers Jeremy, Brian (Monica), and Benjamin (Eileen), as well as numerous nieces and nephews (almost too many to count!)
Dan joins in death his father Leo John Suer, Jr, his brother, Leo John Suer III, and his children, Silas Daniel, Isabelle Marie, and Susan Michelle.
He will be greatly missed.
May his memory be eternal.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Immaculate Conception Catholic School of Special Education.
