Clifford Royal

Augusta, GA – Entered into rest on Saturday, May 13, 2023, Mr. Clifford Ellis Royal, 80, loving husband of 50 years to Margaret Royal.

Clifford was a member of Miracle Baptist Church. He graduated from Victory Baptist College and was a chaplain for 20 years, retiring from Transport for Christ as lead chaplain. He had a keen sense of humor and loved hunting. Clifford was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and was affectionately known as “Papa Rotten.”

Family members, in addition to his wife, include his daughters: Peggy Brown (Steve), Rita Hall (Paul), and Valerie Presley; sons: Nelson Royal, Eddie Pridgeon, George Royal (Vivian), and Eugene Royal; 16 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren; and brothers: Theron Royal, Julian Royal (Carol), and Henry Royal (Patty). He is preceded in death by his parents: George and Abby Royal; daughter: Brenda Williams; and brothers: J.E. Royal and Jewel Royal.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at 1:00 P.M. with a funeral service following at 2:00 P.M. at Miracle Baptist Church with Rev. John Bartlett and Rev. Paul Hall officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
