In Loving Memory of Christopher Thomas Kuneman
July 16, 1946 – June 24, 2026
Chris Thomas Kuneman, 79, of Waynesboro, Georgia, peacefully entered eternal rest on June 24, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born on July 16, 1946, in Raleigh, North Carolina, Chris was the beloved son of William Kuneman and Helen Thomas. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, veteran, and friend whose life was defined by service, hard work, generosity, and unwavering love for his family.
Chris proudly served his country in the United States Navy as a Vietnam Veteran. Following his military service, he built an accomplished and diverse career, working with Delta Air Lines, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), and the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to open and operate The Rack and Grill II, where he enjoyed bringing people together through friendship and community. After decades of dedicated service in both the public and private sectors, Chris retired in 2024.
A man of deep faith, Chris was an active member of Canaan Baptist Church. He found great joy in serving others and generously supported The Garden City Gospel Mission, always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need.
Chris cherished time spent with his family above all else. He also enjoyed playing pool, golfing with friends, and sharing laughter and stories with those he loved. His kindness, wisdom, and sense of humor will be remembered by everyone whose lives he touched.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife, Rosemary Kuneman; his sister, Claire K. Worth; his children, David Kuneman (Ansley), Ralph Barbee III (Linda), and Rhonda Burgamy (Luke), Cynthia Ann Kuneman; his stepchildren, Hans Anderson and Sonya Ashmore (Phillip); seven beloved grandchildren; seven treasured great-grandchildren; along with numerous extended family members and dear friends.
Chris’s legacy of faith, service, integrity, and love will continue to live on through the many lives he influenced. Though he will be deeply missed, his family finds comfort in knowing he is at peace and reunited with those who have gone before him.
A Celebration of Chris’s Life will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Directors, 214 Davis Road, Augusta, Georgia. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until service time.
The family welcomes all who knew and loved Chris to join them in celebrating a life well lived.
