Catherine “Cathy” Pye O’Byrne

Catherine “Cathy” Pye O’Byrne, 71, beloved wife of Larry O’Byrne, entered into rest on July 21, 2026.

A funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, July 29, 2026 at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church with Rev. Tim McKeown serving as celebrant. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until service time in the narthex.

Cathy was born in Augusta and graduated from the Academy of Richmond County. She was a faithful member of St. Teresa of Avila. Cathy loved traveling in their RV, especially to the beach with her grandchildren and to NASCAR races. She was lovingly called “Sassy” by her grandchildren. Cathy will be missed by her family and her many friends.

In addition to her husband, Cathy is survived by her sons, Steven O’Byrne, Scott O’ Byrne (Michi) and Brent O’Byrne (Brianna); her grandchildren, Liam, River, Benjamin, Landrum, Lincoln, Lochlan and Scarlett; her siblings, Susan Bundy (Jerry), Andy Pye (Kathy), Steve Pye (Tami), Russell Pye (Rev. Patti Sue) and Terri Hayes (Al); and by several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, William O’Byrne, Jr.
