Carla Bailey

Augusta, GA – Mrs. Carla Owens Bailey, age 71, entered into rest on Saturday, August 29, 2026, following a hard-fought battle with breast cancer.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 30 years, Michael. She is preceded in death by her parents, John Carl Owens and Sue Owens West and much beloved nephew, Jonathon Smith.

She was born in Augusta, GA and lived most of her life there except for the 12 years that she and her husband relocated to the Charleston, SC area. There she became a history buff and enjoyed exploring historic Charleston and the surrounding islands as well as indulging her love of the ocean, spending many days at her favorite beach on the Isle of Palms.

While in Charleston, she became politically active and worked on many campaigns to help elect candidates on both the state and national level. She was an avid supporter of the Charleston Children’s Museum and the Charleston Animal Society.

Interment will be private.
