Blake R. Seward, age 80, of Evans, Georgia, formerly of McMurray, Pennsylvania,
passed away peacefully on September 30, 2026.
Blake (Bob) was born on July 22, 1946, to the late Blake and Josephine (Severyn)
Seward of Canonsburg, Pennsylvania.
A native of Canonsburg, he attended Canon McMillan Schools, became one of the
youngest Eagle Scouts at age thirteen, and continued his education at the University of
Pittsburgh. He earned a degree in Mechanical-Aerospace Engineering and became a
licensed professional engineer. He was a member of Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity.
Starting his career at McDonald Douglas as an aerospace engineer in the Aircraft
Apparatus Test Department, he later joined Westinghouse until retiring in 2005 as
Program Manager of Strategic Engineering for the Nuclear Materials Management
Division.
Blake was a proud father who enjoyed teaching his daughters how to play all types of
sports and especially coaching their teams in softball. A loyal alumnus, he enjoyed his
season tickets to Pitt football games and Pitt gatherings with life-long friends, as well as
pleasant weekends golfing.
Blake was a good man, a man of faith and family, kindness and love, a loyal friend.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Elizabeth, two daughters, Alissa Kowal of
Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, and Jennifer Groton of Leesburg, Virginia, five
grandchildren: Christopher (Missy) Logan, Jonathan (Chelsea) Seward, Anthony Kowal,
Paige Groton, Blake Groton, three sisters, Cheryl (Greg) Wastek, Patricia (Ken) Svitek,
Marion Baumgardner, nieces, nephews and many cousins.
Family and friends are welcome from 5-8 on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at Sollon Funeral and Cremation Services, Ltd., 30 East College Street, Canonsburg, PA 15317, (724) 746-1000, Phillip L. Sollon, Supervisor.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12pm on Thursday, October 8, 2026, at St. Patrick Church, 317 West Pike Street, Canonsburg. Burial will follow at the Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the University of Pittsburgh
School of Engineering or Catholic Social Services of Augusta, GA.
